How Onegai USA works
Onegai USA is a site where Japanese speakers in the U.S. ask each other for “a little help.” With one account, you can both post requests and take on requests as a helper.
If you need help
- Sign up for free and confirm your email address.
- Post a request. Choose a category and area, and add the dates, your budget and the details. To invite a specific helper, press “Ask … for help” on their profile page.
- When offers arrive, check profiles and reviews, and chat by message. You only need to share your street address and phone number after booking.
- Press “Book …” to confirm. At this point you pay the price for the job plus a 5% service fee by card, and we hold the payment until the work is done (fees and how payment works).
- When the job is done, press “Mark as complete” and write a review.
If you want to help as a helper
- Sign up for free and create a helper profile (what you can do, your areas, typical rates, experience and qualifications).
- Set up payouts (with Stripe). Once you register a bank account, payments are sent automatically after each job is completed.
- New requests are also sent to you by email. To make an offer, send your price and a short introduction.
- If you are chosen, the job is booked. Plan the day by message and do the work.
- When you are finished, press “Report job as done.” The job is complete once the requester confirms (or automatically after 72 hours). Once it is complete, your price minus a 10% fee is automatically transferred to your registered bank account.
For details, see the helper guide.
Where help takes place
Childcare and pet care are limited to visits by the helper to the requester’s home. We do not currently accept arrangements where children or pets stay at the helper’s home.
